It has minimal substituents and can be synthesized by following a chemistry procedure. 4-Bromo-1,8-naphthyridine has been shown to have good adduct formation with chloroquine in spectroscopy experiments. This compound has shown antimalarial activity against plasmodium species, but not amodiaquine sensitive strains. 4-Bromo-1,8-naphthyridine also has good analogues that are active against amodiaquine resistant strains of plasmodium.
