5-Bromo-2-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is a potent and selective TRPV1 antagonist. It has been shown to have analgesic effects in the urinary tract, as well as the ability to reduce hyperalgesia and overactivity of the nervous system. 5-Bromo-2-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine blocks TRPV1 channels but does not activate them or produce any other agonist effects. The drug has also been shown to reduce thermal hyperalgesia in mice.
