3-Bromo-1H-pyrrole - 1M in hexanes is an organic compound. The 3-bromo group is a nucleophilic, and the methanes are electrophilic. This reactivity can be seen in the Friedel-Crafts reaction, which is a halogenation reaction that adds bromine to an alkyl group on a pyrrole. Methanolysis of this product yields two possible products: 3-bromopyrrole - 1M and 2,3-dibromopyrrole - 1M. Synthesis of these compounds has been achieved using chloride as a reagent and anhydrous conditions. The isomers may also be obtained through the use of different halogens and dehydration conditions.
