(2-Bromobenzyl)methylamine is a fluorescent compound that is used as a ligand for metal ions. It has been shown to bind to 8-hydroxyquinoline and yield fluorescence in the presence of aluminium. The photophysical properties of this compound have been extensively studied, including its quantum yield and the effect of irradiation on its fluorescence. (2-Bromobenzyl)methylamine has also been used as a spectroscopic probe in the study of amines, yielding advances in the understanding of photophysical processes.
