• Descripción: 2-Bromo-1-(pyren-1-yl)ethanone is a fluorescent derivative of the cyclic peptide 2,5-dibromopyrene. It is used in chemical ionization mass spectroscopy for the identification of sodium salts in reaction mixtures. 2-Bromo-1-(pyren-1-yl)ethanone has been found to be an excellent fluorescence detector in clinical studies, and can be used to measure the concentration of human serum proteins. The carbonyl group in the chromatographic column provides a good retention time, which facilitates gravimetric analysis. In vitro assays have shown that the boron atom enhances the potency of this molecule by increasing its stability and preventing degradation by serum enzymes.
