5-Bromo-N-methylpicolinamide is a potential drug for the treatment of inflammation. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of bromodomains, which are proteins that regulate gene transcription. 5-Bromo-N-methylpicolinamide binds to the active site of these proteins and prevents them from binding to DNA. This prevents the transcription of inflammatory genes and reduces inflammation. 5-Bromo-N-methylpicolinamide also inhibits immune cells and epithelial cells, which may be useful in treating skin conditions such as psoriasis.
