Descripción

Benzoylhypaconine is a chemical inhibitor that inhibits the enzyme alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase in the electron transport chain and causes depletion of cellular energy. It has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as HIV, influenza, and tuberculosis. Benzoylhypaconine has also been shown to be toxic in animal studies, and is known to inhibit DNA polymerase activity. This drug has also been used as an analytical method for measuring the concentration of aconine in human serum. The matrix effect on this assay can be corrected by using dextran sulfate.
