(Z)-2-(2-(But-2-en-1-yl)-4-oxocyclopentyl)-acetic acid is a plant metabolite that is produced by the plant in response to stress and elicits a variety of responses. It has been shown to activate transcriptional activators, leading to phosphorylation of signal peptides and protein genes. This compound also stimulates ATP binding cassette transporter and induces the production of jasmonate. (Z)-2-(2-(But-2-en-1-yl)-4-oxocyclopentyl)-acetic acid has potent inducing effects on polymerase chain reaction, which may be due to its ability to cause an increase in intracellular Ca2+ levels, as well as enzyme activities.
