3-Boronobenzothioamide (3BBA) is a chemosensor that can be used to detect the presence of sulfur in ginkgo biloba leaves. 3BBA has shown potential as an analytical method for the detection of sulfur, amines and potentials in organic compounds. 3BBA is structurally similar to a number of drugs such as amphetamine, phenmetrazine, and benzphetamine. The fluorescence of 3BBA is increased by electron excitation and this property may be used to monitor electron transfer reactions.
