• Descripción: Benzyl(methyl)nitrosamine is a nitrosamine that has been shown to be carcinogenic in animals. It is also an esophageal carcinogen in humans and induces tumor formation in the liver. Benzyl(methyl)nitrosamine is a natural compound that can be found in plants, such as green tea. The enzyme gsh-px activity is inhibited by benzyl(methyl)nitrosamine, which leads to decreased cellular growth and inhibition of DNA synthesis. This compound also inhibits polymerase chain reactions (PCR). A biological sample from the esophagus may contain benzyl(methyl)nitrosamine.
