Butanedioic acid 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-pyridinol (1:1) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of migraine. It inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, respectively. The compound is used for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with arthritis, menstrual cramps, tendinitis, bursitis, and other types of injury or inflammation. Butanedioic acid 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-pyridinol (1:1) has also been shown to have an effect on energy metabolism in cells by inhibiting mitochondrial respiration.
