2-Bromo-1-cyclobutylethanone is a drug that has been shown to inhibit the production of leukotriene D4, which plays a role in inflammatory processes. It also has been shown to have antihistamine and anticholinergic properties, as well as affinity for benzodiazepine receptors. 2-Bromo-1-cyclobutylethanone is an analog of 1,3-diphenylpropanoic acid. This compound contains two cycloalkyl groups on the heterocycle and a carboxamido group on the dialkylamino side chain.
2-Bromo-1-cyclobutylethanone is an optimization target because it can be synthesized from readily available starting materials with high yields and shorter reaction times than some other targets. The structure of this molecule was determined by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
