Boron trifluoride methyl sulfide complex is a drug that inhibits the production of epoxides, which are important intermediates in the synthesis of prostaglandins. It is used for the treatment of endometriosis and as an adjuvant to hormone therapy for breast cancer. Boron trifluoride methyl sulfide complex has been shown to be more efficient than other methods for cationic polymerization and can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. This drug also binds to enzymes that catalyze the formation of sulfamates, preventing their metabolism into toxic metabolites. Boron trifluoride methyl sulfide complex has been shown to inhibit muscle cell proliferation and reduce estrogen receptor modulators.
