Bis(cyclopentadienyl)chromium (II) is a molecule that is an organometallic compound. This metal ion forms a complex with a cyclopentadienyl ligand and ethyl diazoacetate. The chromium atom has two oxidation states, +2 and +3, which is determined by the presence of an electron-donating or -accepting ligand. Chromium(III) can also be reduced to chromium(I) in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid or photoelectron. Bis(cyclopentadienyl)chromium (II) is soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, and hexanes. It is insoluble in water but soluble in carbon tetrachloride, diethyl ether, and ethanol.
