3-Bromopiperidine-2,6-dione is a chemical compound that has antiviral properties. It inhibits the multiplication of viruses by inhibiting the enzyme thymidine kinase, which is required for DNA synthesis. The compound also has anti-tumor effects and can be used to control pest infestation in plants. 3-Bromopiperidine-2,6-dione is a synthetic molecule with an ethylene moiety that can be synthesized from inexpensive starting materials. It has been shown to inhibit tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α production in mouse models of asthma and arthritis. 3-Bromopiperidine-2,6-dione also has antifungal properties against several plant diseases such as powdery mildew and rust.
