Benzhydrylamine is a potent and selective antagonist of the histamine H2 receptor. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as a vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptor antagonist. Benzhydrylamine has been shown to decrease the glomerular filtration rate in rats and mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of amines that are involved in energy metabolism.
Benzhydrylamine is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHClNH. It has two hydroxy groups, one on each of its nitrogen atoms. The molecule contains a benzene ring with two hydrogen atoms on it and a -NH group attached to it.
