It is also known to inhibit cytochrome P450 and nitric oxide synthase. The molecular modeling study showed that 4'-benzyloxy-3'-nitroacetophenone binds to the active site of xanthine oxidase and blocks the binding site for xanthine, which stops the conversion of xanthine to uric acid. This inhibition leads to a decrease in urate production, which can help prevent gout attacks.
