3-Benzyloxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (BOMBA) is an aromatic compound that is found naturally in plants. It has been used as a ligand to study the binding of halide ions to proteins and as a lead for the synthesis of phosphonium salts. BOMBA has been shown to have anti-angiogenic effects in cell studies, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The molecule also has inhibitory activities against cytokine receptors, including IL-2 and IL-6, and can be conjugated with other molecules for use in biological studies.
