Descripción

1,1-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-phenyl-1-butene (BPB) is a synthetic compound that is used to treat breast cancer. BPB binds to the estrogen receptor and inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells in culture. It has also been shown to inhibit aromatase, an enzyme that converts androgens into estrogens, thus inhibiting the synthesis of estrogens. BPB has been shown to have antiestrogenic activity in vitro studies and is being studied as a possible treatment for breast cancer in vivo.
