4-Bromomethyl-7-methoxycoumarin (4BMMC) is a fluorescent derivative that is used as a fluorescence detector in chromatographic and detection methods. This chemical reacts with fatty acids to form fluorescent derivatives, which are used in vitro assays to measure the presence of fatty acids in human liver samples. 4BMMC can be detected using UV absorption or by using a fluorescence detector, and it has a detection sensitivity of 10 ppm. The chemical can be synthesized by reacting trifluoroacetic acid with coumarin derivatives. It can also be synthesized from 7-methoxycoumarin, which is commercially available. 4BMMC has an analytical method that uses LC-MS/MS for quantification and identification. Chemical ionization is one of the techniques used for this method.
