Descripción:2-Bromophenylacetone is a reagent that is used to synthesize sulfonamides. It can be prepared by the reaction of phenylacetic acid with bromine in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The product can then be treated with sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid to give 2-bromophenylacetone. This compound has been shown to have bacteriostatic activity against Gram-positive bacteria, as well as being an efficient method for synthesizing thiosemicarbazide.
