Descripción

Butoconazole nitrate is a topical antimicrobial agent that is used in the treatment of fungal infections. It inhibits the growth of Candida glabrata by binding to ergosterol, which is an essential component for fungal cell membranes. Butoconazole nitrate has been shown to be effective against other human pathogens such as Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Microsporum canis. The drug has also been shown to inhibit HIV-1 and influenza A virus replication in vitro. Butoconazole nitrate has been shown to have a matrix effect, meaning it can be mixed with other drugs without changing their chemical properties. This allows for drugs to be combined into one formulation, reducing the number of tablets or capsules required to be taken each day.
