5-Bromo-1-naphthoic acid (5-BNAA) is a photoactive agent that belongs to the group of anti-tumor agents. It has been shown to have a strong enhancing effect on the production of ethyl esters, which are intermediates in the biosynthesis of naphthalene. 5-BNAA can be used as an anti-cancer drug, but it also has a cytotoxic effect on blood vessels and erythrocytes. 5-BNAA blocks nucleophilic reactions by binding to DNA and RNA, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug also acts as a surfactant by increasing the surface tension of water and preventing coagulation.
