3,5-Bis-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid hydrazide is a ligand that binds to the trifluoroacetic acid receptor. The ligand was synthesized by reacting benzaldehyde with trifluoroacetic anhydride in the presence of a base. The compound has been shown to inhibit transport across the cell membrane by binding to the hydrazide group on the surface of cholesterol, which is required for this process. 3,5-Bis-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid hydrazide is also able to bind to ester groups on phospholipids and proteins, which may be due to its chemical structure containing an amide group.
