Descripción:2-Butoxyethanol is a glycol ether that is used as an industrial solvent and as a chemical intermediate. It has been shown to have genotoxic activity in the Ames test, but it does not appear to be carcinogenic in animal studies. 2-Butoxyethanol has been found to be toxic to cells in culture at high concentrations and can cause cellular transformation. This compound is considered to be of low toxicity due to its low vapor pressure and low skin absorption.
