Boc-Orn(Z)-OH is a cyclic peptide that can be synthesized from ornithine and hydrogenphosphate. It has been used in the study of biomolecular chemistry, as well as a functionalized peptide for use in pharmaceuticals. The synthesis of Boc-Orn(Z)-OH starts with the epimerisation of ornithine to form D-ornithine, followed by a stepwise cyclization of this amino acid to form the desired product. This process is catalyzed by hydrogenphosphate, which is generated in situ from phosphoric acid and diisopropylethylamine.
