4-N-ButylpheNylboroNic acid is an amino acid with a trifluoromethyl group on the side chain. It is a mesomorphic compound, which means it has a low melting point and can exist as both liquid and solid. 4-N-ButylpheNylboroNic acid has been shown to be mutagenic, causing mutations in calf thymus DNA. This substance also fluoresces red under ultraviolet light and boronic acids, which are used in organic synthesis reactions, can be used as a fluorescent probe for 4-N-ButylpheNylboroNic acid.
