6-Bromo-2,4-dichloroquinazoline is a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction that produces a variety of functionalized quinazolinones. The reactants are an alkyne, a phosphine ligand, and an aryl halide. The functionalized quinazolinone can be used as a synthetic intermediate for the production of other compounds with desired properties. This process has been applied to the synthesis of various alkene products. It is also used in the synthesis of quinazolinones, which are analogs to natural products such as pteridine and indole derivatives. 6-Bromo-2,4-dichloroquinazoline has been shown to be reactive and photophysical in nature.
