3-Bromo-tetrahydropyran is an alcohol that can be found in the hydrated form with a conformational preference for the chair conformation. It has been shown to be a substrate for butyllithium and can be hydrogenated to 3-bromo-2,2-diphenylethanol by reaction with sodium borohydride. The compound has been used as a solvent for organic synthesis, as it is non-polar and does not react readily with nucleophiles. The compound also has been used in horticultural applications and as an intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds.
