1,3,5-Benzenetriboronic acid tris(pinacol) ester (BTBPE) is a high-level fission product. It is created by the irradiation of boron and can be used as an efficient extraction agent to extract uranium from nuclear waste. BTBPE is a good choice for polymer synthesis due to its ability to form polymers with high molecular weight and low polydispersity index. BTBPE has been found to have a morphology that is similar to that of uranyl nitrate hexahydrate and it also has radioactivity levels that are approximately 10 times higher than those of uranyl nitrate hexahydrate.
