Boc-3,4-dichloro-L-phenylalanine (BOC-DPA) is an antagonist of the neurokinin NK2 receptor. It blocks the binding of tachykinins to the NK2 receptor, which prevents bronchoconstriction in humans and monkeys. BOC-DPA has been shown to have a high affinity for the human NK2 receptor and can be used as a pharmacological tool for studying this receptor. In vivo studies have shown that BOC-DPA does not induce bronchoconstriction in humans or monkeys. BOC-DPA is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties similar to those of natural tachykinins, but with higher oral bioavailability and lower clearance rate.
