Boc-D-norvaline (Boc-D-NOR) is a tetrapeptide with significant activity against tuberculosis. It is a fluorescent compound that binds to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord. Boc-D-NOR has also been shown to inhibit the growth of several strains of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, and Clostridium perfringens. Boc-D-NOR inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the receptor sites on the surface of the bacteria and preventing the uptake of nutrients from their environment.
