Boc-Val-Pro-OH is a synthetic peptide that has been shown to inhibit the growth of staphylococcus, chlamydia and other bacteria. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the serine protease and inhibiting its activity. Boc-Val-Pro-OH has been shown to be active against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin resistant strains. This peptide also shows antimicrobial properties against fungi and yeast. Boc-Val-Pro-OH is a fluorescent molecule that emits green light in solution. This fluorescence property can be used for the detection of bacterial cells in culture or on slides.
