Boc-DL-isoleucine is a cyclic peptide that has been synthesized from the amino acid L-leucine. This molecule is derived from the cyclodehydration of the amino acid and is an example of a molecule that can be obtained through organic chemistry. The synthesis of this molecule was accomplished by the use of thermolysin, which hydrolyzes proteins into peptides. Boc-DL-isoleucine has two stereoisomers, R and S. The yield of this compound is low due to its chiral nature, as only one enantiomer can be obtained at a time.
