Boc-Lys(Boc)-Gly-OH is a synthetic analogue of the natural amino acid lysine. It is soluble in water and can be autoclaved for sterilization. This compound has shown activity against both gram positive and negative bacteria, as well as fungi. Boc-Lys(Boc)-Gly-OH has been shown to decrease the growth rates of microorganisms by interfering with the synthesis of fatty acids. It also synergizes with other antibiotics to increase their effectiveness against certain organisms. The fluorescence of this compound can be used to detect its presence in an environment.
