Boc-trans-4-fluoro-L-proline is a fluorine-containing analog of proline. It is a ligand that can be used to stabilize the active site of enzymes, as well as for x-ray crystallography studies of proline and its derivatives. The structure of Boc-trans-4-fluoro-L-proline has been determined by x-ray crystallography to be a monomer with an approximate molecular weight of 187.2 Da, and a fluorine atom in the para position on the phenyl ring. Structural analysis has shown that this molecule can adopt different conformations, which may lead to different biological effects.
