5-Bromo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole is an indoline with anticancer activity. It is a hydrogen bond acceptor and interacts with the chloride anion to form a six membered ring. 5-Bromo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole has been shown to have efficacy in chronic oral administration of gaseous or liquid forms to mice infected with human leukemia cells. This compound also induces apoptosis by binding to proapoptotic protein Mcl1 and may be useful as a chemotherapeutic agent against cancer cells that overexpress Mcl1.
