4-(Benzylamino)cyclohexanone is an ester of 4-benzyloxycarbonyloxycyclohexanone and formaldehyde. It is a radical cyclization enol ether that can be synthesized by reacting activated alkenes with trichloroacetamides. The synthesis of this compound involves the intramolecular transfer of an electron to form an intermediate radical, which reacts with a piperidine substituent to form the final product. This compound can also be synthesized synthetically by reacting an alkyne with ethyl nitrite in the presence of base.
