It can be used to inhibit tumor growth by modifying DNA, thus inhibiting transcription and translation. The bromodomain of 4-bromotetrahydropyran has been shown to coordinate with zinc ions and has a stereogenic center. This leads to synergistic effects when combined with other therapeutic agents such as alkylating agents or topoisomerase inhibitors.
