2-(3-Benzyloxyphenyl)Octan-2-Ol is an analgesic agent that is used in the manufacture of other drugs. It is synthesized by methylation of heptanol with 3-benzyloxyacetophenone, followed by a Grignard reaction with hydrogen chloride and trimethylaluminum. The methyl group on the benzene ring is then replaced by the chloride group using a chlorination reaction. 2-(3-Benzyloxyphenyl)Octan-2-Ol has shown analgesic properties in animal studies, but further research is needed to determine its efficacy as a painkiller in humans.
