• Descripción: 1-Bromo-2,2-dimethoxyethane is a potent matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the expression of COX-2, an enzyme that produces proinflammatory prostaglandins. 1-Bromo-2,2-dimethoxyethane also inhibits estrogen receptor activity and is used as a pharmacological tool in the study of estrogen receptors. This compound has been shown to be useful for the treatment of chronic schizophrenia by reducing dopamine levels in the brain. The pharmacokinetic properties of 1-bromo-2,2-dimethoxyethane are similar to other drugs with a high molecular weight and low water solubility, such as tacrolimus and cyclosporine A.
