Descripción:3-Butenenitrile is an organic compound that belongs to the group of nitriles. It can be found in plants, such as garlic and horseradish, and is also used as a solvent. 3-Butenenitrile has been shown to have both vestibular and behavioral effects in animals, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. This inhibition prevents the formation of allyl mercaptan, which is responsible for many of these effects. The structural analysis of 3-butenenitrile has shown that it contains a reactive methoxy group that forms a covalent bond with hydrogen cyanide in alkanoic acid. The resulting product is hydrocyanic acid, which causes acute toxicity in humans.
