Tert-Butyl 3-bromomethyl-indole-1-carboxylate is a stabilizer for optical, stereoisomers, hydrogenated, and hypervalent organic compounds. It is also used to make alkylated tertiary amines and tripeptides. Tert-Butyl 3-bromomethyl-indole-1-carboxylate can be synthesized by the reaction of isopropyl bromide with tertbutoxycarbonyl chloride and indole in the presence of lithium diisopropylamide. The product can be purified by recrystallization or chromatography.
