3-[4-(benzyloxy)phenyl]propanoic acid (3BPPA) is a drug target that has been shown to be activated by the enzyme, cytochrome P450. 3BPPA has been shown to have the potential to lower blood glucose levels in diabetic animals and may also have anti-inflammatory properties. It is an analog of galanthamine, which is used as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. 3BPPA may have a similar function with galanthamine as it enhances galanthamine-induced increases in acetylcholine levels.
