(1R,2R)-N,N'-Bis(2-acetyl-3-oxo-2-butenylidene)-1,2-dimesitylethylenediaminato Cobalt(II) is a chiral catalyst that can be used for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions. It has been shown to catalyze the asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of aryl ketones with olefins in organic solvents at room temperature. The reaction proceeds via the formation of an imine intermediate followed by reductive elimination. This catalyst is also effective for the reduction of borohydride and borohydride reductions.
