1,2-Bis[bis(pentafluorophenyl)phosphino]ethane is a ligand that has been used in palladium-catalyzed reactions. It has been shown to be a very effective catalyst for the reduction of carbon-carbon bonds in multinuclear systems. 1,2-Bis[bis(pentafluorophenyl)phosphino]ethane is a crystalline solid that emits light when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The luminescent properties of this molecule have been studied by X-ray crystallography and infrared spectroscopy. This compound also has the ability to cleave bonds under reductive elimination conditions and is often used as an additive in organic synthesis.
