Trans-4-Butylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid is a synthetic compound that has been shown to possess anti-cancer effects. It inhibits the synthesis of testosterone and thus acts as a contraceptive for women. Trans-4-Butylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro, but its effect on physiological functions in vivo is not known. This compound reacts with hydroxyl groups through hydrogen bonding. The reaction mechanism of this process is still unknown, but it may be due to hydrophobic interactions or electrostatic forces.
