Benzo-15-crown 5-Ether is a hydrogen bond donor that can be used as an analytical reagent. It has been used in the synthesis of pyridine derivatives and has been shown to have electrochemical and fluorescence properties. The compound can also be used for tissue culture experiments, as it is nontoxic. Benzo-15-crown 5-Ether has been shown to react with nitrogen gas in anhydrous acetonitrile to form a white solid compound, which can be analyzed by NMR spectroscopy.
