It is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, acetone, and ether. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Azelate, 75% is used as an optical sensor in the presence of chloride ions. This product can be used to determine the molecular weight of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Azelate, 75% also has applications in kinetic studies because it reacts with oleic acid to form dibutyl oleate.
