2,2-Bis(4-aminophenyl)hexafluoropropane (BPAP) is a monomer that can be used to synthesize polymers with a variety of properties. It has high potential use in the field of gas separation due to its ability to separate gases by size. BPAP is soluble in water and hydrochloric acid, and reacts with hydroxide solution and chloride to form hydrogen fluoride. This monomer has a molecular weight of 156 Da. It is synthesized from the reaction between 4-aminobenzoic acid and hexafluoroacetone. The molecular modelling shows that the molecule has six different conformations, with each conformation possessing a different shape.
